AI Providers

Mioru supports multiple AI providers. Choose what works for you.

ChatGPT Sign-In (Recommended)

The easiest way to get started. Sign in with your ChatGPT account — no API key needed.

• Uses OAuth — Mioru never sees your password
• Works with free ChatGPT accounts
• If you have ChatGPT Plus, Mioru uses your subscription

Setup: Settings → KI → Sign in with ChatGPT

Claude API Key (Alternative)

Use your own Anthropic API key for Claude-powered AI chat.

1. Go to console.anthropic.com
2. Create an API key (starts with sk-ant-...)
3. Add it in Mioru Settings → KI

Cost: Pay-as-you-go. Claude Haiku: ~$0.001/msg, Claude Sonnet: ~$0.01–0.03/msg. Typical usage: a few dollars per month.

OpenAI API Key (Voice)

Required for voice transcription (Whisper) — used by Voice Input (Ctrl + Shift + M), Voice Mode, and Gedankenspeicher voice capture.

1. Go to platform.openai.com
2. Create an API key (starts with sk-...)
3. Add it in Mioru Settings → KI

Cost: Whisper: ~$0.006/minute. 10 minutes/day = ~$1.80/month.

Tavily API Key (Web Search)

Enables the AI to search the web during conversations.

1. Sign up at tavily.com (free)
2. Copy your API key (starts with tvly-...)
3. Add it in Mioru Settings → KI

Cost: 1,000 searches/month free. Paid plans start at $0.01/search.

Privacy

• API keys are stored locally in ~/.config/mira/settings.json
• Never uploaded to Mioru servers — Mioru doesn't have servers
• AI processing happens directly between you and the provider (Anthropic, OpenAI)
• Mioru never sees your data, your notes, or your AI conversations

Gemini, Mistral, Ollama (local), and more are on the roadmap. Mira's provider architecture is designed for easy expansion.
